Piercing Frequently Asked Questions
What type of jewelry do you use?
We currently offer medical grade stainless steel, 24K gold plated, and 14K gold options. Not all designs are available in each jewelry type. Some selections such as 14K gold are limited to Birth Stone options only.
What do I need to bring with me for my appointment?
For any piercing of a minor, a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a consent form. State issued photo identification is required from the legal guardian, and a bona fide form of identification from the minor. In the event the parent has a different last name and/or address from the child, a birth certificate that has the parents current last name, and/or court documentation is needed to prove the relationship, i.e., divorce papers, or a remarriage certificate in addition to the birth certificate.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. Clients are typically seen on time. When you arrive please just take a seat in the waiting room and a team member will come out to greet you when they are ready to take you back for your appointment.
Can the whole family come?
In the piercing room we only allow a max of 2 adults. This ensures a comfortable and safe environment for the client and piercer. Please also remember that even if a child is excited for this experience they may also be a little nervous. Having more eyes on them may increase that nervousness.
Can I bring my own jewelry?
No, we only pierce and change earrings/ nose rings with the sterile jewelry we provide and sell in our office. We offer a variety of jewelry options to suit the needs of all our clients. Additionally, once the healing period has been completed, clients may purchase new non-piercing studs from our office and schedule a jewelry change appointment.
Can I record the piercing process?
No, we do not allow recordings to take place in our piercing rooms. We do however encourage pictures once the piercing is complete and we’re happy to help you take a family pic!
How do I remove the earrings?
To remove the earring once you've waited the initial 8 weeks, you will just pull (a light tug) the backing off. These are not twist off earrings.
Do you accept tips?
No, your piercer is a trained medical professional. Skin & Style favorably compensates your piercer for their skill and expertise and the price of your piercing package is all inclusive. The best way to thank your piercer and Skin & Style is by leaving a review and referring a friend!
